The Cat Who Loved Mahler

I was practicing the viola part of Mahler’s Symphony IV he other day. I’ve lived in my new digs for about 2 weeks now. My sister has two cats. Both have been cordial to me and have paid a bit of attention to me, but mostly, they hang out with my sister.

While I was practicing Mahler, one of the cats, Stella, stayed very close to me. She walked around my legs, rubbed, licked me, marked me with her face and meowed a lot. She’s never behaved that way with me before. She stayed near me the whole time I practiced.

Now I wonder if it was the sound of the viola that attracted her, or whether she just loves Mahler. I’ll keep a log of how she reacts to other music I play. I’m also a folk fiddler and I wonder if she’ll like that. Guess I’ll practice more often so I can find out. I liked the attention. That was nice!
